coded_crochet

In coded_crochet, I combined traditional handcraft with digital processes by using Python to build a random crochet pattern generator. Each time the programme runs, it outputs a set of unexpected instructions, from the number of rows and stitches to the type of material to use, resulting in unusual, open-ended textile forms. The outcomes are strange and playful structures that challenge conventional ideas of control and authorship in craft.

This project reflects my interest in expanding what craft can be by merging analogue techniques with digital tools. Through coded_crochet, I’m exploring how generative systems, randomness, and code can disrupt traditional making processes, leading to new material languages and surprising forms.
